The hectic pace continues! Authors, Authors and more Authors!

Evangelists to Hollywood? Surely you jest! But think about it, it's probably the hardest gig out there! And if successful, imagine the rewards - Hollywood's influence extends worldwide! And if we can influence Hollywood - well, you get the point! And that's exactly what Jim and Karen Covell and Victorya Michaels Rogers do. And in their newest book, How to Talk about Jesus without Freaking Out, they tell you how they do it. If these techniques work for them on their tuff turf, imagine what they can do for you. If you freeze up, freak out or "pass" on the thrill of talking to someone about Jesus, then this is the book for you! Push your fears aside! Don't be shy, evangelize!

So you've tried them all and none seem to work! Gain and loose, gain and loose - it's a roller coaster! Don't be discouraged - break free from that diet trap - the solution is here at last! Finally a practical no-nonsense approach to loosing weight. In her new book, The Diet Trap, Pamela M. Smith, R.D., (on the left above talking with WSHO's Jean Epps) offers a seven-week plan to lose weight without losing yourself. She is the founder of "The Smart Weigh" program through which thousands of peole have found freedom from excess weight and dieting. (Her client list is impressive - heard of Shaquille O'Neal)! This is a voice you can trust. So, unleash your body's natural ability to lose weight permanently, activate your metabolism and balance your hormones. Overcome stress and soar with energy. But most importantly, nourish your soul and your spirit!

Christians and Politics. Everyone has a point of view! And Dr. Ken Wilson is no exception. An orthopedic surgeon in real life, Ken Wilson's concern for the state of our nation has led him to write The Moral Mandate to Vote. He believes Christians must find their voice if God's priorities are to be heard. Voting is not mentioned in the bible, but God's priorities are. Christians must fulfill a moral obligation of compassion. Loving one's neighbor demands that we take into consideration laws and values that can rescue our neighbor from physical death as well as spiritual death. This book looks at the issue of abortion with compassion, concern and the hope that Christians understand that their voice and God's priorities must be heard.

A missing helicopter, tons of hijacked cocaine, a wealthy Bolivian family family and the DEA. All the elements are there to make Crossfire the perfect thriller. It's fiction, but the situations, settings, attitudes and opinions as well as the details of narcotrafficking and the anti-narcotic effort are as accurate as careful research and person acquaintance can make them. The author, Jeanette Windle, is the daughter of South American missionary parents and served with her husband as a missionary in Bolivia for fifteen years. In Crossfire she creates an all-too-real world as she follows the adventures of a young woman whose marriage into a prominent South American family draws her deep into a world filled with danger. Crossfire is an exceptionally well-written novel, full of intrigue, action, realism and biblical truth! The drug war in Bolivia is an on-going drama and this is the story of that drama. Need a good summer reading novel - this is it!

There was lots for the Kids! WSHO's Jean Epps, a mother of two herself who is always looking for new ways to entertain her brood, talks with "Iffy" (alias Tom Kimball) and "Sketch" (alias Dan McGowan) about their new Christian video series, Doodlemaps. These exciting new videos use creative storytelling, spectacular 3D computer animation and "ear-catching" songs to teach children the Bible. A "Doodlemap" is a picture story which records our relationship with God and this "picture-journal" for kids teaches them how to record or map out how God works in their own lives. Visit Parable Pond, Reflection Pool and Proverbs Point. It's a journey through God's word that your kids will never forget!

The fun continues with Dinosaurs! It's a a book, a game, four posters and two playsets that bring children face-to-face with God's majestic creatures, blending science with Scripture for hours of faith-building fun! Michael and Caroline Carroll (above) explore the scientific mysteries of God's creation, answering kid's questions about how dinosaurs lived, how we find out about them and how they fit into God's great Creation. Meet the paleontologists and see the bones of dinosaurs buried may years ago. Its a journey to a facinating past!

This is Louisiana and we understand "swampcritters"! But apparently they are now national! Who better to bring them there than Mr. Bobby Goldsboro! (Come on, you remember "Honey" and "Watching Bobby Grow"). Goldsboro is the voice behind The Swamp Critters of the Lost Lagoon. He also writes the scripts (I'm told he has met each one of these creatures in his Florida yard), composes and arranges all the music and plays all the instruments. Is this multi-talented or what! Your kids will love meeting this band of assorted critters (Billy Bob Possum, Gumbo the Fiddler Crab, Ribbit E. Lee, Ima Dilla and Joe Raccoon) and follow their adventures in the Lost Lagoon. What a great way to learn life lessons with an emphasis on values.
